San Diego County’s coastline is a sight to behold. Head either direction along the Pacific Coast Highway, and you will quickly realize why. The idea of California’s seaside living is perfectly realized within its quaint coastal villages, each offering unique attractions and stunning vistas. A particularly vibrant gem perched on the cliffs 20 miles North of San Diego is Del Mar.
Made up of primarily single-family residential neighborhoods, Del Mar has made good use of its 2.2 square miles of coastline. Thoughtful retail spaces, restaurants, and hotels blend unobtrusively into the community. A small town of just 4,200 people nestled along the Pacific Ocean, it is unique amongst its coastal neighbors for its size, accessibility, and annual attractions. Its beautiful dog-friendly beaches, hiking trails, shops, and dining opportunities are year-round attractions in the village. But many know and love this place for its annual events like the San Diego County fair and the Del Mar horse races.
